No. #1 Lanna Kingdom Documentary: "Yonok Naga Phan"
This documentary film is about the legend of the Lanna Kingdom located in the north of Thailand. However, in the past, this area of the kingdom used to cover southern China to northern Laos and Thailand, including parts of Myanmar.
The Lanna Kingdom, the legend which has a long history from more than 750 years ago. The Lanna Kingdom occurred during the same period of Genghis Khan on the South East Asia peninsula. The Lanna Kingdom had an area that covered the north of Thailand, Burma, Lao and the south of China. However, a lot of historical information is lost because people ignored. It remained only the folklore from an elder in villages. One of the main issues which are not familiar to the public is a legend of Yonok Naga Phan. It is the legend that connects between histories, way of life, arts and culture of Lanna people together. The information comes from the storytelling of the legend. It has been told by a locality philosopher also has some different details. On the other hand, this issue has created the documentary of “Yonok Naga Phan” for the edutainment purpose in the formatting of a digital media related to both production style and distribution. This documentary has 20 minutes, and it describes the identity of Lanna through a story with narrated content in chronological order from the age of shine to a contemporary period. It is divided into three parts: a way of living, Lanna’s music and dance and textiles. These are combined with religious beliefs and the origins of ceremonies. During the story narrative, the value of art and culture is demonstrated by creating a great spectacle impression with computer graphic techniques which simulate Lanna’s environment scenes, including three-dimensional models of Lanna house style. Moreover, animals in this legend included mixes of half elephants and half snakes, which are also simulated in the story. The sound in this movie is designed to emphasize the story identity including dialogue design, sound effect design, and local song design. Besides, it included Joy, Saw, Kaw, and Eu Ka Loong to promote and reflect the Lanna identity of the old age.
